Dr. Joseph Bacotti is a board certified Ophthalmologist, in private practice located in Mineola, New York. Dr. Bacotti graduated from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York, in 1973 and attended medical school in Monterrey, Mexico. He received his degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1978 and completed his internship at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, New York. Continuing his education Dr. Bacotti completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Nassau County Medical Center, East Meadow, New York, in 1982. Dr. Bacotti has been a member of the Mineola Lion's Club for many years. Dr. Bacotti lectures for the Lion's district on diabetes, glaucoma and macular degeneration and is Lion's co-chair for sight.
Professional Societies
Dr. Bacotti also serves on the Boards of the New York State Ophthalmological Society, the Long Island Ophthalmological Society and the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists. He lectures extensively to ophthalmologists, other physicians, optometrists, opticians and technicians on all aspects of eye care, locally, nationally and internationally.
Dr. Hallak graduated from the Sorbonne, France with a degree in Optical Engineering and a Ph.D in physiological optics. He received his OD degree from the State University of New York in 1975 and has since been practicing and teaching hospital residents in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hallak has published and lectured nationally and internationally on various topics including specialty contact lenses, low vision and binocular vision, and continues to remain active in the medical community.
Dr. Hallak is a life member of the New York Academy of Sciences
Dr. Lutz is an NBEO board certified therapeutic optometrist. He graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania in 1999.
Prior to joining Mineola Eye Care, Dr. Lutz practiced at Bayshore Optomology in Holmdel, New Jersey. He is versed in all areas of medical eye care, as well as pediatrics, contact lenses and low vision.
Dr. Lutz recently moved to Long Island with his wife, who is an associate professor at SUNY Farmingdale, and their three young children.
Dr. Halliwell received a bachelors of science with high honors from the University of Notre Dame. She is a graduate of SUNY College of Optometry and completed a residency in Rehabilitative Optometry at Northport VAMC. She has served on the faculty of SUNY College of Optometry and Northport VAMC. Dr. Halliwell joined Mineola Eyecare in 2005 and is the doctor in charge of our Mitchel Field office located in Garden City.
Prior to joining Mineola Eyecare, she was Director of Low Vision services at the Lighthouse International Long Island office. She has also appeared on television and radio to discuss eye related topics.
Dr Halliwell is married with two teenage daughters. In her free time she is an avid reader and enjoys boating with her family.
